Diabetic neuropathy is heard very commonly as diabetes is one of the fasted growing disorders in the world today. Diabetic neuropathy is one of the first and the foremost complications of uncontrolled diabetes. What is Diabetic neuropathy? In simple words it is crying of the dying nerves. When the blood sugar keeps on fluctuating and generally kept on the higher sides, commonly said it suffocates the peripheral nerves. Peripheral nerves are the ones which supply the palms and the soles. Once it suffocates, it leads to burning sensation, tingling sensation, some sort of dull naggy pain, weakness and sometimes sever, When it goes quite sever, it can extent other than palms and soles also. It can come to any surface of the skin like thigh, shin, calf muscles, hand, arm, rarely event the abdomen and the chest in extreme cases but how do you analyse that Diabetic neuropathy has occured ? Two ways, when you get any of these symptoms or toy can get your blood sugar done or 60 days or 90 days called as Hba1c, if it is more than7.6 to 7.8 range and sometimes we see upto 11 – 12 also. But anything above 7.6 you can be sure that you are already on the way. Some present with the symptoms they complain they find it hard to hold their slippers then we should certainly think that neuropathy is setting in. so approach your doctor. Ayurveda has great results in the medical industry. In medicines, we give a strong B complex or any other therapies. But no clear cut proven therapies for Diabetic neuropathy. Ayurveda has specific therapy by one, lifestyle correction, two by herbal or herbomineral preparations to control the diabetes fast and once diabetes is under control, then we go to the panchkarma treatment . One with a udvarthanaa with a particular powder, a massage with a particular powder the main thing to stimulate the nerve is the madhutailikabasti. Madhu means honey, taila means a particular type of oil and various herbs mixed together given through the rectal route. Depending on the severity of the problem, we decide the number of days as 7, 14, 21, 28, or sometimes even upto 42 days. If it is very chronic, we may repeat in a year atleast 3 times for 28 days each.
