You would have to take this for the rest of your life as it only helps control the diabetes as long as you have it. There are many books written on the subject of ‘curing’ diabetes (check out Amazon) and this is done through dietary changes and moderate exercise – away from the Standard American Diet and sedentary lifestyle. Many people are not willing to do this and looking for the ‘magic pill’. Cinnamon is a good substitute or adjunct to taking anti-diabetic medications which have a lot of harmful side effects. I would recommend that someone not just up and quit taking their diabetic medications – start the cinnamon and then back off of the pharmaceuticals as the cinnamon effects are noticed. If the dietary/exercise changes are done to completion, then you would not have to take the cinnamon anymore. As for dosages check out this site: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-mercola/cinnamon-diabetes-_b_839487.html. 6 grams is 1 1/2 tsp – 3X the dose that Dr. Mercola recommends.

Do you know if Ceylon is just as effective as the cheap ground cinnamon? I keep hearing how toxic the cheap version can be, but the studies that proved cinnamon lowers blood glucose was actually done with the cheap ground cinnamon, not ceylon.

Yes, the cause AND the cure is diet! Many do not want to take that route thinking it is too hard or too expensive when it really isn’t. The cheapest most healthy things to eat in the grocery store are dried rice and beans which can be flavored to suit all cultures. They are starches (and make a complete protein), but have enough fiber in them to prevent glucose surges. See comments below about the magic pill.

I just had some cinnamon on apple slices just now. I was feeling ill since Xmas eve and diagnosed with Type 2 a couple weeks ago and it has been a heartbreaking yet motivating life changer. Thank you very much Chris for this video it was really informative. 🙂
